This is So Unlike me!

Posted by: Diana G.B on: May 11, 2012

I left the school with really bad feeling inside.

I didn’t talk much, This is So Unlike me, I would talk or ask Asher, about anything.

Reached home. Put him on the chair and removed his shoes. This is So Unlike me, I usually told him to remove his shoes and changed him into home clothes.

Prepared lunch on breakfast table. Told him nicely to sit near me. This is So Unlike me, I usually talked to him with firm and stern voice. He sat near me throughout, he would just run away half way like any other day but he didn’t.

After lunch, I asked him if he wanted to go playground. This is So Unlike me, playground is always after napping. He wanted to bring 3 toy cars along but I told him nicely no cars allowed, he used to show unhappiness like raising his voice but he didn’t. He put them down and wore his shoes. Off we went playground.

At playground, I played with him and climbed all the way up. This is So Unlike me, I don’t do that all the time.

Left playground after 10 minutes because he told me he wanted to poo. We walked back and I showered him. He was good in shower room, he always wanted to play the bath toy and refused to come out but today, he was good.

After showering, I let him play in the living room till he told me the monster was coming, that lead him to the room without much coaxing. Rolling, singing, counting and talking on the bed for more than 30mins, I didn’t raise my voice, I didn’t threaten him or scared him with the sleeping monster, This is So Unlike me!!!! I kept quiet all the while and just put my arms across his body. Suddenly, he said,”I love you, baby. Mommy don’t get angry.” and 5 mins later, he closed his eyes and slept.

I have learnt to stay calm and control my emotions, especially in front of children, because they are fast learner, no matter how “slow” they are.

Donate to Salvation Army

Posted by: Diana G.B on: May 11, 2012

How many of you know that you can donate your used but good furniture to Salvation Army?

Of course, they don’t just take whatever you don’t want. Only items in very good condition, like solid wood table, glass table, Leather Sofa, Wood Bed Frame, they don’t want Fabric related items due to hygiene and maintenance issues. So please don’t take them for granted, if you want to dispose bulky items call your area town council. If your furniture is too old or torn/broken and cannot be recycle, don’t bother to call them.

Learning to Use Scissor

Posted by: Diana G.B on: May 11, 2012

20120511-093812.jpg

If my memory doesn’t fail me, teachers from GLH introduce scissor to Asher somewhere in Feb. They showed him once or twice, he had little interest, attempted to cut a few times, held the scissor up side down, refused to hold the paper as he used both hand to cut, held the scissor facing upward, instead of cutting the paper, he wanted me to put the paper into the mouth of scissor so he just needed to do the “close” action. Whatever funny ways you can try to picture.

Of course I tried to teach him at home too, but the coordination and his little muscles on his hand are not working very well together. The “wait a while” campaign started again. LoL !! I decided to move on with more gross motor skills and fine motor skills practices at home. Ahhh, you know why we do “fishing” “scooping” every Thursday. He can control his wrists and shoulders better now. “squeezing” the ducks and fishes to “shoot” the water onto each other faces – strengthen muscles on his hands.

Besides that, I let him observe how I do the cutting. Asher loves to glue and he wants me to cut the pictures out, I do it almost daily. Yesterday, Asher told me he wanted to cut ! I gave him a few pieces of paper and he started cutting them.

Tips & Warnings I got from ehow

Be sure to purchase scissors that seem rounded on the inside and are thus appropriate for both left and right handed preschoolers. Children can wait until first grade to finally decide what their dominate hand will be.

Using old magazines will not leave marks on your preschooler like newspaper does.

Allow your preschooler to develop scissor skills at their own pace. Be sure not to criticize them for hold the scissor wrong. Just gently model the correct way and every once and a while help them to hold the scissors correctly.

Teaching your preschooler how to use scissors will also help them continue to develop their sense of autonomy and the feeling of “I can do it.”

Scissors should not be used unsupervised. This can be hazardous to your preschooler or to household items.

Sentiment II

Posted by: Diana G.B on: May 8, 2012

Posted on 21/08/2008 :
This is my 600th entry for my personal blog. I am glad I’ve gone this far and feeling great that my readers do enjoy browsing my site. As said, the blog is mainly for sharing, almost everything but I do not like to share unhappiness events. For those who read and find it a little bit exaggerated, eg. how can someone has such beautiful life? Well, I take this chance to let all my silent readers out there know that I do have a normal life like anyone of you, there are ups and downs and most of them are just too personal for me to scream them out loud here.

At the beginning of starting this blog, it was suppose to be a diary (that’s why I kinda scolded my ex manager in my 3rd/4th entry) and later on it becomes public as I have a few buddies who wish to know how’s my life going on and get a little bit of updates here and there, yeah, to know that Diana is not dead yet after the SLIM 10 issue.

Later on, I thought it would be nice to share my ROM and wedding preparation experience with all the wedding couples and this blog becomes a place for my to store some of my memorable moments and the “growing up” stages. I then fond of baking and cooking and this blog suddenly becomes a little “makan blog”! I later received a feedback that my blog was too cluttered and I should systematize them so I changed my blog template, added labels for each entry and created another foodie blog – Sweetness Divine

So here I am again, how can I have a life that seems so perfect to everyone, I don’t mind if you use the word “show off” but how? It is simple, just be contented. Don’t always think that others are better off than you do, don’t always get upset when you see piles of work and don’t always peek at others and think you must do better than him/her. It will never end, if you’ve already decided to live your life and be contented, stop looking at others with a feeling of jealous envy and tell yourself, there are many people who are much unfortunate than you, he/she might be hiding somewhere cursing you like what you are doing right now and I bet you don’t like them to do that. I am truly lucky and thank god for sending this man to life, who taught me how to smile, controls my short temper and stands by me when I need support and constantly reminds me that I do not look good when I am frowning. Everyone has their own personality, be it good or bad, the moment we choose to marry him, we have to accept for what he is but don’t pampered him too much, when you think there is a need to sit down and TALK nicely, do so as communication and respect are the keys to blissful and solid marriage.

By the way, I am feeling honored to receive a few emails lately, telling me that my blog inspires them and reading my nonsense here somehow helps them especially when they are down. I don’t know how but I am happy to know that most of my readers have positive thinking towards their lives and they are just as “xinfu” as I am. I always hope I can communicate with my readers, especially those silent readers from overseas. I do know that you come here regularly but do give me a chance to know you too, if you have a blog of your own, drop me a line at my email : koala_bare@hotmail.com and let me know how did you come across my corner.

Last but not least, do you know that it takes 43 muscles to frown and only 17 to smile ? So, just smile and

20120508-142101.jpg

08/05/2012, this is my 2050th post ! Haha, when I browse back the post (I copied & pasted) above, I almost wanted to skip it as I feel just as same. How can it be the same right? It’s my 2050th post ! Okay, I think, most of the posts were wordless :P that explained why I’m able to keep “blogging” and keep my “blog” alive. See, it is easy to “maintain” a blog, if you just want to blog about your daily life, your vacation, your makan experience. What a fuss, right? Not that I’m blogging for living or writing reviews to bring back a loaf of bread.

Well, those who know me since I started blogging, yes, my life is now all about Asher. Muahaha, hey, what else? I have only 1 husband, 1 son, 1 dog, no career, what else you want me to share?

If you can see, I’m trying my best to cook more, those who asked me why I stopped cooking in 2010 & 2011, I’m sorry ! I was busy with Asher and I was also working part time.

20120508-153651.jpg
When I saw the photo shared by mommy Jacq(paiseh, borrow picture from your fB), her basin was full of dishes to wash. On top of that, she still has to look after 2 kids and clean the house. She is right, who would love to cook? Before the helper came, I had to wake up to pump milk, sterillize bottles, hand mop the 3 rooms and staircase, wash the utility room for many times, shower 2 shih tzus, shower asher, feed him then carry the Medela PIS to my mom’s with Asher, why did i go to my mom’s, so that I can breath!

20120508-154412.jpg
Yes, I lose so much weight after that, weight lesser than pre-pregnant! Now? Now fatter la of course ! LoL !!

For those who mistakenly took this blog as cooking/baking blog. My apology. Not that I don’t want to share recipes, I’m one who cook without recipes and forever use the “agak agak” method.

For those who thank me (privately) for sharing progress of my son, seriously, I think it is part of my life hence leaving some photos here will help me to recall which was Asher’s first artwork and when did he start holding pain brush… It is my memory lane. So don’t have to thank me and please do not take it as an example or a benchmark like your kids must be able to do something similar at the same age. Stressful, isn’t it? This is what I received from my ex classmate.

20120508-145332.jpg
20120508-145723.jpg

It is encouraging, right? That I’m sharing something (eg. Art works) and some of you can do the same thing at home with your kids, it is not so much about the products, it is the process! If you prefer to let the teachers in school to do art works with your children, I feel sorry for you mate, you’re missing all the fun! Yes, you have all the cash to send them to art classes, money can buy back a lot of your child’s artworks from school but not the joy and fun.

Oh no, does this make my blog look like a parenting blog? Hell no! No where comes close to any parenting blog out there. It’s just my life, you know, browse up there and see that?

Yes, I’m just a HDB budget tai tai who wants to live my life to the fullest because I really have no idea when I am going to die, I cherish every single day with my son and I love to record it down here in my blog, just in case I die tomorrow, I’ll leave this blog to Asher, for him to know his mommy and remember what did we do when he was young. I’ll make sure Ben continues paying WP yearly for the domain name.

Over the years… I mean for the past 6 years of blogging, I’m happy that I get to know some of my readers, some are here because we love to cook, some are here because we were pregnant during the same time, some were here because we were from the same school, some were here because we all love to blog, some are here because we love dog, now that we are friends and so are our children, I will make sure I continue blogging, simply because I am the Blo-ga-a-ho-lic !

Find this blog boring? Tell me again.
