The Sophisticated 6 – Birthday Celebration Part 3

Our initial plan for outdoor picnic was cancelled due to the haze but we were glad to make to Orchid Bowling. It was his first time here and first tried on holding a bowing ball. He couldn’t get much points, grumbled all evening and pretty impatience, however, at the end of the game, he was able to regulate his emotions and told us,” it’s all right, we will try again!” It was a great evening spent together with extended family, it is always nice to celebrate birthdays with family. 😍

That is the attitude, my son. Happy 6th Birthday🎉, we hope to bring you here frequent and hope you will grow love for this game, maybe you will choose this as your CCA at P3.

P/S : there are so many things he wants to do now, eg: rock climbing, swimming, Taekwondo, soccer, ukulele. How I wish we have more than 24 hours daily.

Lucky Me – Uncle Ringo SG50 Carnival @ Golden Jubilee

I was one of the 10 Lucky Winner for Uncle Ringo Tickets Giveaway!!

I have won myself, or rather, won Asher & Brycen a Carnival ticket worth SGD60 for this year Carnival @ Golden Jubilee! It was just so unusual for us to go such crowded places, see what parents did for the kids. 😁 the queues were long, the night was warm, the crowd was a little unbearable but the kids had a wonderful night out despite minor hiccups.

Thank you for the tickets!  Hope to win more things for this month. ✌🏻️

Teachers’ Day Gifts – Himalaya Pink Salt Foot Soak

Again, some easy peasy DIY gifts for our dearest teachers. Easy to make but it doesn’t mean we anyhow do it. These were done with lots of love, I lugged all these back from town on my own, when I snapped a shot of my loots, together with these maison trays and containers, daddy immediately offered to send me home, told me to leave them at the store for collection on other day.

I overestimated myself, I turned away his offer and I could barely move after reaching home. I was glad I made that choices, I knew our weekends were packed (my lousy planning skill) and I knew it was impossible for me to spend our weekends on these. How I wish I could “share the scent”, the smell was heavy! I hope the teachers will love this foot soak.

Why were we did this? Really, they are the most patience teachers who are willing to work so closely with me ever! Besides this, we also made a canvas art for the school. A small one but it was 80% done by Asher.

I am crossing my fingers, hoping we will meet some kind and nice teachers when we go P1 next year.

Lucky Me – Ugly Duckling 丑小鸭

Asher first watched The Ugly Duckling 丑小鸭 with his friends and teachers when he was still with Evangel Kindy, I remember it was a school excursion to the theatre. Back then, he did not share much about his experience. I was told he sat through the play, which I doubted because he did not understand much Mandarin. Last few weeks, he saw  the poster and told me he wanted to watch the play, I believe he enjoyed a lot for last semester Speech & Drama in current school, the K1 children performed it and some of the K2 children were involved too. I was hesitated, the tickets were not cheap, so can you imagine how happy I was when I won the tickets from Kids Fiesta? The play was great, very engaging, the actresses were funny and audience laughed together. I told the father, if I could turn back the time, I wouldn’t spend so much on plays when he was much younger!

After a few times here, we more or less know which corner to find a spot for photo taking, as for the father, he knows where to sip his coffee and do his work while waiting for us. Say cheese! The boy was so happy and asked if we can watch it again, let’s hope I can win more tickets for him in future.

Learning Ninja Values at LEGO® Build. Play. Fun. Event @Raffles City

It was all about the “makers” stuff for the past 2 months and our weekends were spent indoor most of the time. (Read:watching daddy building and waiting at Design Centre) It was just a random chat and daddy said he could bring us anywhere I wanted on the last weekend of June, I was shocked and happy at the same time, daddy chose to spend a day not doing his stuff but with us. I was feeling guilty too as I knew time was running out for him. However, he insisted so I chose to go Ninja Event at Raffles Shopping Centre.

It was a wise choice as Asher enjoyed his time at all 5 fun stations set up for challenge LEGO® Ninjago™ Battle Dojo. The ultimate villain, Morro has captured one of the ninjas, and need the children’s help to defeat him.

At each station, each kid have to try their very best to complete the task in the shortest time. Honestly, I saw some unbelievably recorded time set by some kids. It was also a great opportunity for Asher to try out new things, I saw him focusing on completing his task at the stations, I couldn’t believe my eyes, my day-dreamer was paying full attention.

We praised him for his good manners and positive attitudes and rewarded him with a set of LEGO at the atrium. Look at him, he was in dilemma, he didn’t know which one to bring home, at the end, he brought a small medium set. I seriously thought he was going to choose the BIGGEST set but he didn’t. There were simple too many for him to choose.

Then I told daddy not to get the flying set as I felt that I might win it for him. True enough, I’ve won that for Asher and it was mailed to us on the following week.

And this was the set we got for him. All completed by himself under 2 hours.

Peter Rabbit, all over again.

It had been a while since we last read Peter Rabbit or watched the DVD, I was surprised when Asher came home talking about Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail. I then checked with teacher and got to know they were told about the story in school as it was the Speech & Drama theme for this term.

Instead of playing the DVD back home, we went to library and borrowed a few books and I read them to him again. It is no doubt he understands the story better and enjoys our reading session together.

See, this was his summary after reading, for the first time, I didn’t have to rephrase, everything here was his own words, look as if he had read it a thousand times! 😂 Besides, I had to stop him from going on and on, *copying 2 pages or more is no joke!

*In order to improve his writing speed and copying skills, I would ask him to tell me any event/story in simple words, then we rephrase and he copies from mine.

As for me, I think I’ve gone a little too far to get these for him.

Lucky Me – eXplorerkid Dad & Me Health & Adventure Quest Family Pass

✌️ I won not only a pair of family pass for Health & Adventure Quest Giveaway but 4 pairs! However, I gave up the other 2 pairs and gave another pair to my BFF. At first I thought it was going be a dad and son bonding sessions over at eXplorer kid but I was wrong, mommy ended up moving around together and busy taking photos.

It was our first time here at eXplorer Kid, the area was big and there were so many things for kids from 2yo onwards. I see one family can easily spend a full day here! As for this event, Health & Adventurure Quest, they had 8 stations and each station had some facts and information about health, we were encouraged to speak to our children and helped the kids to find the answers from poster and wrote them down in the booklet given at entrance upon signing in, then the staff in-charge would give a stamp on the booklet.

Here is the instruction guide and some photos to share.

Station #2 : The Cliff

Station #4 : The Mound

What do you want to be when you grow up? Draw yourself. And we are probably the only parents who played along when he wanted to be a fighter. If you can tell by now, yes, he watched The Walking Dead, it was an “accident”, I swear. And yes, he was so into “Daryl Dixon”.
Station #5 : Ball City

Station #6 : Lit Ballpool

Station #7 : Tree Top Corner
It’s a penguin, if you can’t figure it out. 😆

Station #8 : Pediasure Booth

From all 8 stations, kids learn about

– Healthy Eating Habit/Diet
– What do you dream to become?
– Calcium is important for strong bones and teeth
– How to maintain good eyesight and why is it important?
– Exercise regular, stay active
– Be creative
– Stay healthy

Honestly, I have no idea how many of us would go through all these with the children, or simply aiming to earn all the stamps as at the end of the sessions, we had to show all them the booklets to get door gifts. I was like DUH !!! Why? What if the children couldn’t complete? Will it still be a fun day as parents may feel that the kids did not try very best to complete, what if they came late? What if the kids make a big fuss, I know some special needs children take “stamps” very seriously! I understand there were timing restrictions but oh please, it was too stringent, IMHO. They manage to keep the quest short and sweet but little time left for the kids to play, come on, if I were to pay to enter the premises and go rush through every single one in within the time given, I will never come back because by the time we finished the quiz, time was up. Quote from hub, “this whole thing is a marketing tricks.” Exactly what I had in mind too and it is just way too obvious, especially when I was told to attend parenting talk REPEATEDLY and must give information to the GE financial planners. However, the staff at the entrance were pretty helpful and flexible, she allowed me to sign in on behalf of my friend, which helped to save our time.

Side note : As I received more one another set of family pass, I decided to give it to my friend and our kids got to meet again ! 😀 This is probably one reason why WE HAD FUN on Saturday, good meet up. Anyway, I still want say Thank You for the pass, good or not, it was an experience. Excuse me for being this honest, I am still wondering, what if I handed them an empty booklet? 😅
