Colmar, France

Petit Venise, or, the “Small Venise” at Colmar, France. It’s really a very beautiful. charming city, famous for its timber-framed houses and medieval buildings. I’ve seen the “fake Colmar in Malaysia” from some blog, but nothing beats the “real Colmar”!

That’s the market to the right, which was closed at time of visit. Merchants use to sail their boats into the town for trades, that’s why there are stairs from the building into the river (for them to unload stuff into the market).

St. Martin’s Church, Colmar, France

We visited Frederic Auguste Batholdi’s house

My Favorite : Sauerkraut  !!!20110628-232028.jpg

From Wiki : Tarte flambée is an Alsatian dish composed of thin bread dough rolled out in a rectangle (traditionally) or a circle, which is covered with fromage blanc, thinly sliced raw onions and lardons or the sweet variant: with crème fraîche, sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon. It is one of the most famous gastronomical specialties of the region
